A 28-year-old woman was arrested last night after assaulting two Washington State Patrol troopers and spitting on an Seattle police officer. This incident occurred in Tukwila, following a traffic crash linked to a previous domestic disturbance.
According to the Seattle Police Department's blotter, the event unravelled at around 5:45 p.m. on December 22nd. Officers were dispatched to 10805 Pacific Highway South where the WA State Patrol (WSP) troopers were already on scene dealing with the involved parties from the accident. The situation escalated when the woman, one of the individuals involved, began acting aggressively toward the other man at the scene.
In an effort to preempt a physical altercation, troopers detained the woman. However, the arrest was anything but smooth. While being placed in the back of a police car, the suspect lashed out, kicking and striking both troopers present. A subsequent arrival of a Seattle police sergeant for administrative reasons was met with further hostility as the woman spit on the officer.
The woman is now facing charges, having been booked into the King County Jail for three counts of assault. The severity of the incident has warranted involvement from the Homicide and Assault Unit, with detectives now spearheading the investigation into the altercation. The gravity of the offenses serves as a stark reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face during routine interventions; their role in public safety repeatedly puts them in the direct path of potential harm - a reality often overlooked until moments such as these thrust it back into the public consciousness.
