
An officer-involved shooting connected to an earlier armed robbery in Zebulon, North Carolina, was reported by the Zebulon Police Department, with assistance from the Rocky Mount Police Department. According to a department social media post, the incident occurred last Friday in the 700 block of Sutters Creek Boulevard in Rocky Mount, when officers engaged a vehicle matching the suspect’s from the earlier robbery. No officers were injured during the encounter.
At around 11:38 a.m., an armed robbery was reported at the First Citizens Bank on 101 Wakelon St. The suspect fled before law enforcement arrived, taking an undisclosed amount of money and causing no reported injuries. A K-9 unit, Koda, tracked the suspect to a semi-truck, though the individual remains at large as the investigation continues. During the pursuit, an officer-involved shooting occurred, the department stated. No officers were injured, and the public is asked to keep law enforcement in their thoughts.
The Zebulon Police Department secured the area following the Rocky Mount shooting and stated there is no active threat to the community at that time. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to conduct an independent review, following standard protocol for officer-involved shootings.
