Sigal Chattah, acting U.S. Attorney for Nevada, announced the creation of a "public corruption strike force" to address misconduct among government officials, including bribery and election crimes. She described the force as a groundbreaking effort to protect government integrity across the state, according to News3 LV.
Chattah said the initiative would have "State and Municipal agencies coordinate and work together to pool criminal intelligence and data; and ensure the vigorous prosecution of bad actors violating the public's trust," and emphasized that "no stone will be left unturned to protect Nevadans from corruption and no public official and/or agency is above the law," as reported by KTNV. Her announcement comes amid ongoing legal challenges to her appointment, which bypassed the Senate confirmation process opposed by Nevada’s Democratic U.S. senators.
Nevada’s acting U.S. Attorney, Sigal Chattah, announced a new public corruption strike force to investigate government misconduct, including past bribery and misused campaign funds in Southern Nevada. Specific targets have not been announced, but Chattah has previously raised concerns about election fraud and state tax incentives. The strike force was created as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals prepares to hear arguments on the legality of her appointment on February 12.
