A request for a food recommendation outside a Bucks County restaurant escalated to gunfire on New Year's Eve, leaving one man wounded and another facing serious charges. Zacchaeus Williams, a 22-year-old resident of Bucks County, stands accused of aggravated assault, among other charges, after allegedly shooting a man in the leg outside OMG Seafood and Chicken, according to NBC Philadelphia.
Officers responded to the scene at Pennsbury Plaza Laundry Zone at approximately 8:21 p.m., where they discovered Michael Sanders with a gunshot wound. As reported by LevittownNow, Sanders' practice of asking for food suggestions went awry when he addressed Williams, who allegedly drew a firearm and shot without uttering a word.
The surrounding establishments' security cameras proved crucial in identifying Williams, as footage showed him paying for his order while dressed in a grey hoodie and a black hat. Beyond his distinctive clothing, police used a phone number to track down the alleged shooter through databases, which linked to his New Jersey driver's license and a prior run-in with law enforcement, as detailed by LevittownNow.
Following the shooting, authorities successfully apprehended Williams at the Alexandria Apartments parking lot on New Year's Day, with "the assistance of the Bucks County South Emergency Response Team," as LevittownNow states. Sent to Bucks County Corrections Center, the suspect faces two counts of felony aggravated assault along with related misdemeanors, now held in lieu of $500,000 bail with no legal representation listed as of January 2nd, as Phillyburbs reports. The victim, on the other hand, was treated at Capital Health Regional Hospital in Trenton for the non-life-threatening injury, an unfortunate participant in an incident that flips the narrative of community engagement on its head, highlighting the unpredictable interplay between the urban tapestry and the frayed threads of individual actions.
