Charlotte County's Utilities Department is on the lookout for young artistic talent to champion the cause of water conservation. They've announced the Drop Savers Water Conservation Poster Contest, an initiative aimed to get local students engaged in environmental stewardship through art. Kids from kindergarten up to high school are encouraged to submit their creative takes on saving those precious water droplets. Participants stand a chance to win at the local level, with the opportunity to go on and make a splash statewide.
Split into five categories, the contest ensures an even playing field for all: tiny tots in kindergarten and first grade, sprightly second and third graders, the imaginative bunch in fourth and fifth grade, the critical thinkers of middle school, and the visionary high schoolers. Despite having until February 25 to get their posters in, eager beavers are already getting their brushes wet. In a statement obtained by Charlotte County's website, the Utilities Department expressed hope that the contest will also educate the students, apart from uncovering local artistry.
Local educators and community members who want to throw their hats into the ring, finding out more or getting their schools involved, should get in touch with Brianna Pifer-Joseph at [email protected].
If you've got a young Da Vinci at home whose art could potentially turn the tide in water conservation, the time to act is now. The clock is ticking down to the February deadline, as prudently reported by Charlotte County's announcement.
