Humidity is at 71% with north winds at 6 mph, according to the NWS. Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny conditions with highs near 50°F, while tonight is expected to see a low around 36°F.
As the week continues, Charlotte’s weather is expected to change. The NWS reports increasing confidence that a major winter storm will bring significant wintry precipitation across the area this weekend. Friday carries a 50 percent chance of rain, with temperatures dropping to around 24°F by Friday night. Saturday is forecast to see snow and sleet during the day, followed by a 100 percent chance of snow, freezing rain, and sleet overnight into Sunday.
By Sunday, highs are expected near 27°F, with freezing rain and sleet likely throughout the day. The risk of freezing rain is forecast to continue into Sunday night, with lows around 20°F. The National Weather Service advises residents to stay updated, noting that hazardous travel and power outages are possible and may persist into early next week. Cold wind chills are also forecasted Monday night into Tuesday morning, which could prompt a Cold Weather Advisory.
By Tuesday, Charlotte’s weather is expected to clear, with a high near 34°F and mostly clear skies at night, with lows around 9°F.
