Charlotte residents looking to cut down on their energy bills may find relief with the new Energy Saver North Carolina program that's just been rolled out in the city. The initiative, designed to help North Carolinians increase their energy savings, offers two types of rebates for both homeowners and renters focusing on home efficiency upgrades and appliance electrification, as per the city's announcement.
According to a social media post from the City of Charlotte Government, the HOMES (Homeowners Managing Efficiency Savings) rebate is available for projects that aim to improve a home's energy efficiency. Eligible improvements include insulation, air sealing, and heating and cooling system upgrades. The HEAR (Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates) focuses on supporting the purchase of energy-efficient appliances and the move toward electrifying domestic systems covering cooking, laundry, hot water, and climate control.
The program has quickly drawn interest from residents looking to lower their energy use and cut costs. In a statement, the city encouraged participation, directing residents to cltgov.me/saveenergy for more information on how to enroll in the Energy Saver NC initiative. City officials say the initiative is expected to provide financial benefits for residents while supporting broader efforts to reduce energy use across Charlotte.
