For the locals looking to juice up their electric rides, good news has rolled into Cleveland. The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA), working hand in glove with the City of Cleveland and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), has set forth a proposal to plant new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at two city recreation centers—namely the Michael Zone and Sterling Recreation Centers.
Touted as a boost to the city's green infrastructure, the proposed setup includes four Level 2 EV chargers to be built in the parking lots of each center. According to the city's announcement, the installation work promises to be a swift 1-2 day affair at both sites, aiming to keep public disruption at bay and ensuring full access to the centers is maintained throughout the process.
Public opinion is a valued part of this electric venture—hence, a comment period has been launched, stretching from January 9 through February 6. Those with thoughts, cheers, or jeers about the new installations are invited to reach out to Allison Bunce, Transportation Planner at NOACA, via email at [email protected], offering their two cents on the matter.
The proposed spots for these charging stations span across the city, with Michael Zone Recreation Center located at 6301 Lorain Ave., and Sterling Recreation Center at 1380 E. 32nd St.
