
A Clinton Township woman has received a sentence ranging from 10.5 to 30 years after being convicted of assault with intent to murder, as reported by WWJ Newsradio 950. Jennifer Hayes, age 30, was brought to justice following a knife attack on her boyfriend, which occurred on July 3, 2024, and led to her conviction on November 21, 2025.
During the attack inside their home in Clinton Township while her boyfriend was sleeping, Hayes inflicted 14 stab wounds with two knives, with one wound located perilously close to the side of the victim's neck, Macomb County Prosecutor’s office detailed the crime as per MLive report and after the brutal assault, it took a neighbor four hours to find the injured man and get him to a hospital where he received life-saving treatment, as he continues to overcome the severe consequences of this violent ordeal.
Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer M. Faunce handed down the sentence yesterday, as the case concluded after a five-and-a-half-day trial that concluded with Hayes' conviction, following a news release from the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.
"Today’s sentence reflects the seriousness of this defendant’s actions and the lasting harm caused to the victim," Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido emphasized in a statement conveying the stance of the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office towards violent crime and relayed by New Media Detroit, the office remains unwavering in their mission to protect the public while ensuring offenders like Hayes face the full extent of the law.
Further stipulations of Hayes' sentence include a no-contact order with the victim covering both direct and indirect communication during her incarceration, and she has also been ordered to pay restitution under Michigan’s Crime Victim’s Rights Act, details that the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office shared.
