An armed felon with outstanding warrants for felony assault was intercepted by an SCV Sheriff's deputy before he could enter the Santa Clarita Valley, according to a Facebook post by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. The vehicle spotted on the I-5 freeway near Gorman is linked to a 45-year-old Victorville male suspect, whom the deputy identified during routine patrol.
The traffic stop was far from ordinary as the deputy quickly determined the suspect's status as a convicted felon. During a field investigation, two loaded firearms were discovered inside the suspect's SUV. It appears the deputy was able to safely conduct the stop and arrest the suspect without incident, effectively managing to likely prevent any further criminal activity in the SCV area.
The suspect now faces multiple felony charges. These include being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed and loaded firearm inside a vehicle in a public place, and possession of a firearm that was not registered to him. The Sheriff's Station credited their proactive deputies with this catch, highlighting their vigilance and the impact their actions can have on maintaining public safety.
"This traffic stop occurred at the northern edge of our jurisdiction in Gorman, reflecting the proactive work of our resident deputies assigned to the area," the Sheriff's Station's Facebook post read. It seems the work of these officers has to, once again, proven critical in upholding the safety of their communities. Meanwhile, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station emphasizes the importance of such diligence and the role of law enforcement in preventing crime.
