What The National Weather Service Says
According to the National Weather Service, the Freeze Warning runs from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday, with the valley expected to see “sub-freezing temperatures for the first time this season.” Forecasters warn that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive plants and may damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Where It Will Be Coldest
The Las Vegas Review‑Journal reports that the warning covers Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, and Henderson, with Summerlin, south Henderson, and Nellis Air Force Base facing the best chances of dropping below freezing. Forecasts call for valley lows near 32 degrees and the upper 20s in higher terrain. Daytime highs should bounce back into the 50s, while nighttime readings settle in the mid to upper 30s through much of the weekend.
Protect Plants, Pipes And Pets
The National Weather Service advises residents to cover tender vegetation, wrap or drain vulnerable outdoor pipes, and bring pets indoors during the overnight freeze. Most of the valley should thaw out by midmorning, though low-lying spots and rim areas could linger at or below freezing a bit longer.
Weekend Outlook And Local Context
Conditions will not stay frosty for long. Forecasters expect a warming trend through the rest of the weekend and into next week, with highs generally in the 50s and overnight lows returning to the mid to upper 30s, the Review‑Journal reports. The paper also notes that December 2025 went down as the warmest December on record in Las Vegas, a sharp reminder of how quickly the local weather can swing from near-summer vibes to a short, teeth-chattering freeze.
