
Detroit residents are facing a mix of rain and snow today, with weather forecasts predicting such conditions mainly after 1 pm and a high temperature near 40 degrees, as per the latest reports. The east wind is expected to shift to southwesterly later in the afternoon, and there's a high chance of precipitation at 90%, although snow accumulation should be less than half an inch, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather outlook for tonight doesn't promise much in the way of clear skies; there's a continued chance of rain and snow before 8 pm, and snow could return after 4 am. The transition to partly cloudy skies will come with a low around 26 degrees, and a west wind blowing at 10 to 15 mph, with possible gusts reaching as high as 26 mph. This 30 percent chance of precipitation hanging over the city will persist through Sunday morning, with a chance of lightning by the afternoon, to a 30% probability of snow before 1 pm.
Looking ahead to Sunday night, Detroit should see mostly cloudy conditions, with temperatures dropping to about 27 degrees. The west southwest wind won't give much respite either, maintaining a pace of 8 to 10 mph and gusts that could soar up to 20 mph. The work week will commence with partly sunny skies on Monday, the high is estimated to be near 38 degrees, and winds from the southwest will continue at about 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
The National Weather Service forecasts a mostly cloudy Tuesday with a chance of rain after 1 p.m. and highs in the mid-40s. Rain may continue into Wednesday and could change to snow as temperatures drop. Colder weather is expected on Thursday with highs near 27 degrees, and there is a chance of snow on Friday.
