This morning, tragedy struck in Detroit as a house fire claimed the life of a man, with the city's firefighters responding to a residential blaze that revealed the gravity of urban fire fatalities.
According to CBS Detroit, the Detroit Fire Department received an emergency call around 5:20 a.m. about a house fire located on the first block of West Parkhurst Place; upon arrival, they faced heavy fire blazing from the back of the house, and firefighters, upon entering the house to combat the inferno, found the victim on the first floor. ClickOnDetroit reports that the deceased man was pulled from the burning home, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead with the fire department stating no other persons were present in the home, and no firefighters sustained injuries during the operation.
The identity of the man has not yet been disclosed as the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, and as reported by FOX 2 Detroit, the ambulance crew rushed the man to Detroit Receiving Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
Monday's fatal incident follows another fire incident in the 11900 block of Yosemite Street, where the Detroit Fire Department was summoned to a scene involving two homes, one vacant and the other unoccupied at the time, this comes on the heels of an additional fatality from a fire the previous Sunday on Detroit's east side; therefore demonstrating the persistent challenge urban fire incidents pose to the community though authorities are yet to announce any connections between the events.
