An investigation is underway after a Chevrolet Corvette was found submerged in an Orlando retention pond. According to ClickOrlando, the discovery was made earlier this week near the interchange of State Road 417 and State Road 528, with Orlando and Orange County firefighters responding to the scene, according to their social media posts.
The Orlando Fire Department shared images showing a diver near the partly submerged sports car, raising questions about how the high-end vehicle, which WFTV reported can range in price from $70,000 to $90,000 for new base Corvette Stingrays, ended up in the water. No one was found inside the car or in the surrounding water, and details regarding how the car came to rest there were not immediately available.
Dive teams from the Orlando Fire Department were assisted by Orange County Fire Rescue in recovering the vehicle, and while the recovery effort answered the question of whether there were victims to be attended to, it opened a new host of inquiries.
Channel 9 indicated that their news team is actively working to uncover more details on the situation and will update the public as more information becomes available.
