The turn of the year brings an uptick in emergency medical services for cities and townships across the region, as the holiday season's festivities often lead to a surge in emergency calls due to weather-related mishaps, celebratory accidents, and, unfortunately, a rise in cardiac events. Reflecting on this annual phenomenon, the Washington Township Fire Department in Dublin, Ohio, took to social media, shedding light on what the season spells for their EMS professionals and the community they diligently serve.
According to the post on Facebook, December 2025 was a busy month indeed, with the Washington Township Fire Department remarking “Increased EMS call volume compared to other months” further listing incidents tied to "winter weather, travel, and holiday activities" and also noting a spike in cardiac emergencies surrounding Christmas and New Year's, an observation that aligns with national trends historically witnessed during this time.
In their message, the department expressed gratitude to the community and emphasized the readiness of their crews, noting, "Our crews stay ready 24/7 to answer the call". The post not only highlighted the Washington Township Fire Department's unwavering commitment but also served as a thank you to the community, "for trusting us with your care" while optimistically ushering in "a safe, healthy start to 2026."
