Dundalk, a community on the edge of Baltimore, has endured a sudden rupture in its daily flow, not from the usual cadence of life but quite literally in the form of an 8-inch water main break that has unleashed a torrent of troubles onto its streets. Crews from the Department of Public Works (DPW) rushed to the scene as water spouted onto a house on Dukie Avenue, near the 3600 block of North Point Boulevard, as reported by WBAL-TV.
The impact of the burst pipe was not just a deluge, but it painted an icy glaze across the neighborhood, casting hazards as temperatures dropped. The water department, which is responsible for maintaining the water system, has not provided an estimated timeframe for when the repairs will be completed. This update was announced without much else in the way of details, as WMAR2-News reported.
Residents continue to wait for repairs to be completed as they hope for a return to normal water service.
