The City of Durham is seeking applicants for projects that support community revitalization through affordable housing initiatives. A total of $4.9 million is available to fund projects serving low- and moderate-income residents. The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) programs.
Organizations planning to construct or renovate affordable housing, or implement community development programs, are encouraged to apply. Housing and Neighborhood Services Director Sarah Viñas emphasized the City’s commitment to addressing housing needs, noting that the funding is intended to support projects and programs led by community partners, according to the City of Durham.
To be eligible for funding, organizations must have a representative attend one of two upcoming application workshops. The City will host the sessions to provide guidance on the application process. An in-person workshop is scheduled for February 6 at 1 p.m. in City Hall’s Conference Room GA (Planning), and a virtual session will be held on February 11 at 9 a.m. via Microsoft Teams.
Applications must be submitted by noon on March 3, and should be sent electronically to [email protected]. Interested organizations can find details about the submission process in the City of Durham’s news release.
