Euclid is on the move with its fresh batch of wayfinding signs, a move designed to streamline navigation through the cityscape and give locals and out-of-towners alike something to help guide their way. The Citywide Signage Project, detailed in a report by the City of Euclid, consists of 86 signs erected across highlights of the city, including parks, city gateways, and corridors of interest. All without a cent pulled from the General Fund, thanks to strategic funding involving a stew of grants and tax-increment financing strategies.
Funds fuelling this signage spree spring from a variety of sources. The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) kicks in $100,000, while the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) chips away another $75,000. Not to forget, the remaining sum is rounded out by $122,653 from the Clay Matthews Pontiac Tax Increment Financing (CMP TIF), coupled with contributions from Harbortown TIF and Downtown TIF. This financial maneuvering has been carefully calculated to skirt any burden on the city’s General Fund.
It's not just about putting up a sign or two. The project meticulously places signs at strategic spots, making sure the city's parks and rec spots get a fair share of the limelight. Case in point, Memorial Park will have signs pointing the way to the Memorial Pool and Orr Ice Arena, right up to the Recreation and Wellness Center—ensuring clarity for park-goers. As mentioned by "www.cityofeuclid.gov," Mayor Kirsten Holzheimer Gail beamed over the project, saying, “We are thrilled to unveil this comprehensive signage initiative, which not only enhances navigation throughout Euclid but also instills a profound sense of pride in our community.”
The signage shakes up the Euclid scene by adding layers of functionality and aesthetic appeal, and it's not stopping anytime soon. Onward into 2026, the signs will continue to spring up, including those dedicated to Euclid Avenue's gateways and wrapping around neighborhood streets. So if you're in the area, take a gander at the project's latest additions. More intel on this and other city ventures can be gleaned over at the City of Euclid.
