Early on New Year's Day, a devastating fire ravaged a two-story home in Pylesville, Harford County, leaving three adults without a place to call home. As reported by Fox Baltimore, the Maryland State Fire Marshal's office identified the location of the blaze at 1714 Scott Road, where firefighters responded at about 3:50 a.m. One of the occupants, awakened by the alarming sounds of "popping and cracking," discovered the fire in his bedroom and quickly alerted other family members.
Attempts to douse the flames with pots of water were made by the occupant, along with his brother and mother, but their efforts were unsuccessful, leading them to call 911, as per details in a statement obtained by Daily Voice. The fire, facilitated by the home's "balloon-frame type construction," rapidly spread through the walls to the attic and roof. Causing structural damages estimated at $300,000 with an additional $200,000 loss in contents, no smoke alarms or fire suppression systems were found present in the house at the time of the incident.
While no injuries were reported, the homeowner's five cats became victims of the calamity, with only one confirmed to have escaped, leaving the whereabouts of the remaining four uncertain.
The Norrisville Volunteer Fire Company took the lead in combating the fire, as outlined by Daily Voice, with Harford County Disaster Assistance and the Red Cross stepping in to deliver aid to the now-displaced family.
