Residents of East Central Florida are facing a chilly start to the day, with a freeze warning and cold weather advisory in effect until 9:00 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne FL. The advisory impacts Lake, Seminole, Orange, Osceola, and Volusia counties. Authorities suggest bundling up if you're heading outdoors and using space heaters with caution to ward off the cold.
In the broader outlook, expect dry conditions to persist in the coming days, with precipitation probabilities creeping back in closer to the weekend. For today, though, thermometers are set to gradually rise into the mid-50s to the mid-60s after the biting cold of the morning. "Temperatures continue to fall across east central Florida as a cold, dry air mass sinks southward across the area," the weather service noted. Arriving behind a departing trough, high pressure is building across the southeast and Gulf, promoting north to northwest winds which are keeping skies clear and rain at bay.
For those with boats, the marine forecast isn't looking very favorable either. The waters are expected to be rough with "Hazardous boating conditions anticipated to gradually improve throughout today," yet a 4 to 6-foot wave height is anticipated to stick around for much of the week due to northeast to east winds, as per the NWS report. Small craft should exercise caution, and there is a projected slight chance for wet weather to return by Wednesday afternoon.
Fire weather is another concern, as dry conditions have caused relative humidity values to dip. "Sensitive to near-critical fire weather conditions are anticipated today across east central Florida, especially across the interior west of I-95," warns the NWS Melbourne FL. While winds should lessen on Tuesday, the potential remains for borderline critical conditions, with improvements expected by midweek.
Temperature-wise, the forecast promises a warm-up trend through the week, with normal to above-normal temperatures anticipated by the weekend. In light of the Freeze Warning and Cold Weather Advisory set to expire, residents can look forward to milder evenings and gradually warmer days ahead.
