Two masked suspects are still on the loose after an early-morning robbery on San Antonio's South Side that left a 24-year-old man staring down the wrong end of a gun. Police say the victim was held at gunpoint while the pair grabbed his property, then took off before officers could get to the scene. No injuries were reported, and there were no arrests as of Sunday morning.
What police say
According to WOAI, San Antonio police say the holdup happened around 2:48 a.m. in the 3200 block of SE Military Drive. One suspect allegedly pointed a gun at the victim while the other gathered his belongings, then both suspects slipped away before officers arrived. WOAI reports that investigators are working the case and that no one was physically hurt.
A corridor with repeat hits
The stretch of Military Drive and the surrounding South Side neighborhoods has been no stranger to predawn crime, including robberies and hits on ATM workers in recent years. The Express-News has documented similar early-morning robberies where suspects managed to leave the area before police could track them down. That repeat pattern keeps detectives leaning on surveillance footage and quick tips from nearby residents and businesses.
Police response and tips
SAPD says the investigation is ongoing and is asking anyone with information about the South Side robbery to contact Crime Stoppers. Local reporting lists the tip line as 210-224-STOP (7867) and notes that anonymous tips can be sent through the P3 Tips app. For more about how to reach investigators and how rewards work, see KSAT. What neighbors are watching
Residents on the South Side have been voicing concern about violent crime in the early hours, especially after other recent incidents. That includes a Jan. 5 drive-by that left three people hospitalized. Police say the investigation into the SE Military Drive robbery remains active and that more details will be released as they become available.
