The City of Hickory’s Community Relations Council (CRC) is accepting project proposals for its 2025–2026 funding cycle, with grants intended to support initiatives that promote community unity and address local needs. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, religious groups, and other tax-exempt entities. Applications must be submitted by February 27, according to the City of Hickory.

Grant priority will be given to projects that aim to unite diverse segments of Hickory’s population and provide services to residents with the greatest needs. The CRC is also encouraging partnerships among organizations to improve coordination and reduce duplication of services. Proposals that include matching funds, or plans to secure additional funding, will receive additional consideration due to their potential to extend the reach and effectiveness of the grants.

Funding guidelines specify that CRC grants, which are funded by the city, may not be used for salaries, building construction, or activities that promote specific political or religious views. Allowable expenses include service contracts and select honoraria. Grant recipients will be required to provide reports detailing how the funds are used, which may include presenting updates at a CRC monthly meeting, and must acknowledge the support publicly by including the City of Hickory and CRC logos in related promotional materials.

To support the application process, CRC members will hold two grant workshops in early February. The sessions will provide guidance and answer questions to help applicants prepare their submissions. Grant application forms are available on the CRC website or can be requested from staff liaison Captain Justin Levey of the Hickory Police Department.

Applicants interested in the project grants are required to submit 15 copies of their proposals. Additional information can be obtained by contacting Captain Justin Levey at 828-261-2617 or via email at [email protected]. Grant workshops will be held on February 2 at the Ridgeview Branch Library and February 21 at the Patrick Beaver Memorial Library, with both sessions scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m.
