Sunday night traffic on Rancho Vista Boulevard turned deadly when a high-speed rear-end collision left one driver hospitalized with major injuries and the other fatally hurt, according to sheriff’s officials.
On Sunday, January 25, 2026, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Palmdale deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash near Dunbar Street in the city of Palmdale. Investigators said a 2019 Audi RS3 slammed into the back of a 2004 Scion xB, and both drivers then lost control before their vehicles came to rest. The driver of the Scion was transported to a local hospital with major injuries, while the driver of the Audi later succumbed to their injuries.
According to a post by the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station, preliminary information indicates the Audi was traveling east on Rancho Vista Boulevard at an unknown high rate of speed when it struck the Scion, which was in the No. 1 lane. Palmdale Station Traffic Investigator Detective Christopher Ogden responded to the scene and took over the investigation. The post asks anyone with information to contact the station’s traffic unit.
