Hillsborough County is taking a significant step to tackle substance abuse and behavioral health issues as they ready themselves to launch the Orient Wellness Center, a facility aimed at providing a holistic approach to recovery. The center, situated at 1800 Orient Rd., Tampa, FL 33619, is set to open its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, ahead of its official start date on Feb. 2. Partnering with Phoenix House Florida, the new treatment center will be equipped with 75 beds designated for men and 10 for women, details confirmed by Hillsborough County's official newsroom.
A glance at the services reveals a well-rounded roster including individualized treatment plans, group counseling, and various forms of therapy and support services each constructed with the intention to aid patients in achieving long-term recovery. As a boon for the community, it's particularly focused on assisting those just out of jail as they transition back into society, attempting to curtail the cycle of re-offending and, it's not just for those recently released; walk-ins are welcome Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and with a treatment duration ranging mainly from 90 to 120 days, according to Hillsborough County official website.
Patients seeking assistance at the Orient Wellness Center are required to be part of Hillsborough County's Health Care Plan, a program set up to provide no-cost primary and specialty care to individuals who meet the qualifications. This symbiotic relationship between the center and the county's health plan aims to streamline recovery options and offer an invaluable resource particularly for former inmates seeking a steadier path to their reinvention within the community. The focus on integrating at-risk residents and ex-inmates into the center's programs sheds light on a progressive model intending to reduce potential relapses into the criminal justice system.
The facility, owned by Hillsborough County, has undergone extensive renovations in preparation for its new role as a substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation center. County officials said the renovations were completed to support expanded services for individuals with substance use disorders. Phoenix House Florida, a nonprofit organization specializing in substance use and mental health treatment, will manage the center’s operations and provide individualized treatment programs. The partnership is intended to support individuals recovering from addiction, including those reentering the community after incarceration.
