Authorities were called to the scene around 11:45 p.m. to find a fatal collision involving a disabled red Toyota Camry and a black Dodge Ram 3500. According to the City of Houston news release, the crash has resulted in the death of a 33-year-old male, whose name awaits confirmation from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, Sergeant R. Dallas, and Officer R. Young described the events leading up to the tragedy, explaining how the Dodge Ram, traveling westbound, suddenly changed lanes and collided with the Toyota. The vehicle had been stopped in the main lanes with its hazard lights flashing. Houston Fire Department paramedics who responded to the accident proclaimed the driver of the Toyota dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver, 26, of the Dodge remained at the site, cooperated with the authorities, and after showing no signs of intoxication, was questioned and released.
