The Kannapolis Police Department has officially announced new leadership promotions within its ranks. In an update given by Police Chief Terry Spry, the department elevated two officers, promoting Arthur Reid, Jr. to Sergeant in the Patrol Division and Dale Burris to Lieutenant in the same division. The news was released earlier today on the city's website.
Sergeant Arthur Reid, Jr., who started his career as a Patrol Officer in 2016, quickly proved himself capable of rapidly climbing up the department's ladder. He served as a Field Training Officer before moving to the Felony Investigations Unit and eventually earning his stripes as a Master Police Officer. During his tenure, Reid was recognized for his service with a Unit Commendation and for his role in a 2024 homicide investigation with an Individual Commendation, as reported by the Kannapolis news release.
With over 1,800 hours of professional training under his belt, Reid not only boasts an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate but also a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Everest University. He is not only commended for his professional achievements but also for his dedication to family and community, being a proud spouse and father, and an alumnus of Concord High School.
Dale Burris, a department Lieutenant who began his service in 2011, has served as a Field Training Officer and member of both the Honor Guard and Special Response Team. He holds a Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Certificate from the North Carolina Justice Academy and has completed over 3,800 hours of professional training.
Burris, a native of Mount Pleasant, holds an associate's degree in criminal justice from Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He received the Roger Dale Carter Memorial Service Award in 2013. He is a twin and the son of Roy and Sherri Burris.
