As winter's grip holds firm, the Lakewood Police Department has issued a notice for all residents to keep the streets clear for plow trucks. With the effort underway to remove snow and ice, the department shared a social media post that "Plow trucks are working to clear snow and ice from the roads." For those owning vehicles, cooperation is necessary to avoid fines or having their vehicles towed.
To comply with city regulations, the department reminds the public that vehicles should not be parked on the street for longer than a 24-hour period, according to Lakewood City Ordinance 351.18. Neglecting this advisory could lead to repercussions for absent vehicle owners, buried under layers of snow, having left their car stationary for more than a day.
The police department's message is a timely reminder of the community's shared responsibility in these colder months. They advise, "To avoid being ticketed or towed, we advise you to clear snow from your vehicles and move them to a driveway, parking lot, or to a cleared street spot if they have not been moved for 24 hours or more," According to the Lakewood Police Department.
