Las Vegas seniors living on low incomes might get a little relief on their utility bills thanks to the city's Utility Tax Rebate Program. Now taking appointments, the program offers low-income seniors, aged 60 and over, a rebate on the franchise tax paid for local utilities such as electric, natural gas, and telephone services provided in 2025. Qualified individuals are those making under $16,500, while those filing as married or head of household must earn less than $18,900 a year, as outlined by the City of Las Vegas's announcement.
Eligible applicants, before dashing off to claim what's owed to thee, remember they must present copies of their 2025 local utility bills from NV Energy, Southwest Gas, and CenturyLink/Cox Communications, alongside photo ID, proof of income and payment - ensuring documents match the physical address on their bills. Although the city isn't moving with the tech times—applications aren't available online—residents can book an appointment to apply at specified centers.
In addition, residents who are both homeowners and qualify can apply for a partial sewer bill rebate on their primary residence within the Las Vegas city limits. This requires, just as well, bringing bill copies and proof of the 2025 sewer charge payment. For more details, seniors are encouraged to reach out directly to the centers.
Those interested in receiving these rebates must make an appointment, which they can do by contacting one of the various local centers detailed in the city's announcement. Locations include the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center available Thursdays and Fridays, the Doolittle Active Adult Center with openings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the Dula Community Center ready to assist on Mondays and Tuesdays, and other listed facilities with varying availability through early March. Those interested in visiting the Stupak Community Center are encouraged to call ahead to schedule a visit.
