A man is taking legal action against Clark County and several families after alleging that a group of juveniles assaulted him in a Las Vegas park. According to a lawsuit filed last week, Adrian Villegas-Solorio was at Mountains Edge Regional Park on Jan. 18, 2024, enjoying a scooter ride when he stopped for a rest and, without warning, was purportedly set upon by seven youths. Reporting from 8 News Now details the request for damages exceeding $15,000 due to injuries sustained in the attack, which included a jaw injury requiring surgery.
The attack, described as "violent" and unprovoked, left Villegas-Solorio with both internal, and external injuries, leading to "extreme pain and anguish," per the suit. The legal complaint also holds Clark County accountable, suggesting that the authorities were, or should have been, aware of previous violent incidents within the park's bounds. Information from News 3 indicates that these alleged previous incidents place the county on notice about the park’s dangerous condition.
Villegas-Solorio is pursuing a claim that includes compensatory damages as well as punitive damages and interest. He argues that the parents of the assaulting juveniles are financially liable for their children's actions, each parent up to a $10,000 maximum in civil damages. Meanwhile, Clark County refrains from commenting on pending litigation, and it remains unclear if the parents named in the lawsuit have secured legal representation.
The court has yet to determine the merits of the lawsuit.
