In an ongoing effort to seek justice for a hit-and-run incident that occurred on January 12, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have located the vehicle but the search for the driver continues. The collision, which resulted in critical injuries to a local motorcyclist, involves a white 2022 Kia Sportage. The crash happened around 5:12 p.m. at the intersection of E. Lake Mead Boulevard and Marion Drive, as reported by News3LV.
The victim, identified as a 28-year-old Las Vegas man, sustained life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle collided with the SUV while traveling west on Lake Mead Boulevard. The SUV was said to be heading north on Marion Drive and failed to yield the right-of-way from a stop sign. According to an interview with FOX5 Vegas, Ashley, the victim's wife, stated that her husband had taken his motorcycle to run errands that day, and expressed her hope that the driver would take responsibility, saying, "It’s scary to think that I could lose the father of my child," and "If you were scared, and that was the case, admit you were scared."
The vehicle suspected in the incident has been described as having damage on the right side. Investigators initially believed the driver was detained, but the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Traffic Detail later confirmed it was a hit-and-run. A fundraiser has been set up by the family on GoFundMe to help cover the victim's medical expenses, as per FOX5 Vegas.
