As was unveiled on a Monday night City Council meeting, the fresh face of the 2026 ColorPalooza is designed by none other than Greidy Marisol Flores Mejia, a sophomore at LHS Killough. Packing a punch with its vibrant colors and playfully arranged letters, the logo embodies the spirit of the spring festival — fun, art, and community engagement. Those in attendance witnessed the reveal of a design encapsulating a paintbrush in mid-stroke, surrounded by a celebration of paint splatters.
According to Flores Mejia in an interview with the City of Lewisville's website, she intended to fuse the essence of ColorPalooza with the cohesive unit that makes Lewisville stand out — a tapestry that’s bold, friendly, and brimming with life. She cites her art teacher as the catalyst for her entry into the contest, offering a chance not only to flex her artistic muscle but also to share her view of the community’s vibrancy.
The reward for Flores Mejia’s striking entry is not simply the honor of having her art represent the 2026 ColorPalooza; it encompasses a significant boon to her future education in the form of a $1,500 college scholarship. With such a prize, the young artist is set to add further color to her academic journey.
The historic Old Town Lewisville will play host to the annual outdoor bash on April 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Crowds can anticipate a full day of cultural exhilaration, with music and dance performances spanning a variety of traditions. While soaking in the festivities is gratis, some activities may ask for a light sprinkle of cash. The festival won’t just be a feast for the eyes and ears; attendees of all ages are invited to dive into interactive exhibits and tutorials that potentially greenify their homes and lifestyles.
