Los Angeles man Javier Aguilera Rosas, 43, was sentenced to 15 months in prison for transferring false identification documents, including using a Social Security number and illegally reentering the U.S., U.S. Attorney Eric Grant announced. From August 2020 through December 2023, Rosas created and distributed at least 20 fake IDs, including passports, driver’s licenses, and Social Security cards, fulfilling orders sent via text messages, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The fraudulent IDs were used by buyers for illegal activities such as interstate marijuana sales, obtaining rentals, and bypassing airport security. Law enforcement agencies investigated and dismantled Rosas’s operation across the Eastern District of California, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Rosas was sentenced for illegally producing and selling ID cards. At least one buyer used these IDs to bypass Transportation Security Administration checkpoints and travel. The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicole Moody, as stated by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
