
A man has been killed following a shooting incident at Celebration Park Apartments in Federal Way, as per local authorities. The Federal Way Police Department reported that a 44-year-old man succumbed to a single gunshot wound on Sunday afternoon, despite the efforts of officers and medics to save his life, KOMO News reported.
The investigation, still underway, points towards an earlier altercation between the victim and the suspect, who had prior acquaintance, and detectives have been processing the scene and conducting witness interviews since the police responded to the incident at around 3:30 p.m at 32205 11th Place S.; no arrest had been made as of the last reports, and the suspect remains at large, the situation according to a statement obtained by Federal Way Mirror.
Neighbor Hamid Ibrahim recounted to KING 5 hearing a "really loud bang noise" which was followed by a swarm of police, indicating the gravity of the incident, while another resident, Brian Smith, observed police utilizing a drone in their search near the shooting scene, expressing his concern for family safety, particularly because his elderly mother lives close by. The Federal Way Police Department's spokesperson, Kyle Buchanan, reassured the public by saying, “The suspect is outstanding at this time, and we do not believe there is a danger to the public,” in a statement obtained by KING 5.
This tragic event adds to the rising number of homicides in Federal Way, which has seen approximately double the amount compared to the preceding year, according to police reports. Federal Way Police urge anyone with information to come forward as their search for the suspect continues, while they have not disclosed what exactly incited the fight leading to the fatal outcome.
