Three convenience stores in the Parkland and Midland areas were robbed at gunpoint on three consecutive evenings during the week of January 11, and Pierce County detectives say they need the public’s help to track down the masked crew behind the stickups.
Timeline and locations
Investigators say the first hit came on the evening of Jan. 11 at about 6:45 p.m. at Jackson's Food Store in the 10700 block of Pacific Ave S. Two nights later, on Jan. 13 at roughly 7 p.m., the same or a similar group targeted Terry's Corner at Golden Given Road E and 85th Street E. The third robbery followed around 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 at Midland Grocery in the 1700 block of 99th St E.
Across all three scenes, masked suspects pointed a pistol at clerks and grabbed cash, alcohol and vape products before taking off. Surveillance video shows multiple masked suspects and nearly identical tactics in each case, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office.
What deputies are asking
Detectives have released still images and audio clips from the robberies and are asking anyone who recognizes the suspects, their clothing or their voices to come forward.
"Please have situational awareness, and if you see these suspects, call us right away. We don't want anyone to get hurt," Deputy Carly Cappetto said, per FOX 13 Seattle.
How to report tips
Officials are urging people to report tips directly to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office or submit them anonymously to Crime Stoppers so detectives can follow up leads and try to head off any more robberies. That includes sharing any relevant video or dashcam footage from the areas and times of the holdups, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office.
Neighborhood context
Investigators say the string of crimes fits a familiar pattern in which small groups target convenience stores during evening hours and grab items that can be quickly flipped for cash. Local residents and clerks told reporters the robberies have them on edge, and detectives are banking on public tips to help identify and arrest those responsible, per FOX 13 Seattle.
