The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is offering $200,000 through the Deer Habitat Improvement Partnership Initiative to enhance deer habitat in the Upper Peninsula, with a simplified application process and a $25,000 maximum request per applicant requiring a 25% match, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Bill Scullon, DNR Wildlife Division field operations manager, said the program has grown, noting, "Because of the past success of past partner projects, our budget doubled this year, enabling us to increase our influence to enhance deer habitat across the Upper Peninsula." Over 18 years, DHIPI has invested nearly $1.3 million of deer license dollars plus $950,000 in matching funds, improving thousands of acres across almost every U.P. county, as reported by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications for projects that improve deer habitat, build partnerships, and increase public awareness. Applications are due by March 6, and winners will be announced on March 27. Application details are on the Michigan Department of Natural Resources website.
