Actor Mickey Rourke, known for his roles in films like "9 1/2 Weeks" and "The Wrestler," faces eviction from his Los Angeles home after failing to pay $59,100 in rent, reports FOX News Digital. Rourke, 73, rented the three-bedroom property for $5,200 a month in 2025, an amount which later increased to $7,000 a month, as per a lawsuit filed by landlord Eric Goldie seeking compensation and attorney fees after serving the actor an eviction notice on December 18.
In response to his financial troubles, Rourke has sanctioned the launch of a GoFundMe page and, according to a Hollywood Reporter article, the fundraising campaign began Sunday morning with the actor's permission, raising nearly $40,000 by Sunday night, aiming to provide Rourke with "stability during a stressful time and space to get back on his feet"; the GoFundMe was further reported to have surpassed $68,000 as of January 5, with a target of $100,000 to cover Rourke's expenses and allow him to avoid eviction.
The fundraiser page sheds light on Rourke's career and personal struggles, as stated by Liya-Joelle Jones, an assistant for Rourke's manager in an excerpt shared by KTLA: "Mickey Rourke is an icon—but his trajectory, as painful as it is, is also a deeply human one," and "It is the story of someone who gave everything to his work, took real risks, and paid real costs. Fame does not protect against hardship, and talent does not guarantee stability." The fundraising page emphasizes the actor's pursuit of "truth and authenticity" via boxing and the toll it took on his life and career.
Despite a turbulent past and the current threat of eviction, Rourke's GoFundMe drive's success underscores his enduring fan support; the actor, who faltered in Hollywood due to his off-screen behaviors but made notable comebacks with films such as "Sin City" and "The Wrestler, which earned him a Golden Globe and an Oscar nod, is experiencing yet another public rally to help him regain stability during this difficult time; the campaign organizers hope the funds will help him remain in his home and find peace of mind during this "extremely stressful time."
