
Last night, Milwaukee celebrated its 180th anniversary with a large event attended by Mayor Cavalier Johnson and Governor Tony Evers. Hosted by the Milwaukee Press Club, the celebration took place at the historic Grain Exchange inside the Mackie Building, set against the backdrop of downtown’s notable architecture.
According to a social media post by the City of Milwaukee, the celebration included a disco ball cake by Aggies Bakery. Attendees could also see the city seal painted near the Grain Exchange ceiling and the wood inlay on the floor, reflecting aspects of Milwaukee’s history and architecture.
Mayor Cavalier Johnson and Governor Tony Evers were in attendance, and the celebration included the Milwaukee Press Club, which brought together members of the city’s media and the wider community.
The gathering at the Grain Exchange provided an opportunity for Milwaukee residents to recognize the city’s history and development over the years. Attendees also observed enduring features of the city, such as the Mackie Building’s architecture. The city acknowledged the participation of public officials and guests, thanking them for contributing to the event.
