A small business in North Las Vegas, Servehzah, was broken into early Thursday morning. Surveillance video shows two people forcing their way inside and going through the front counter before taking the cash register. The family-owned business is now asking for help from the community, according to News 3 LV.
"I heard the alarm, I saw it go off, I was on the phone with ADT while I looked over what was going on, a little more disbelief, you know what I mean, it’s one of those things where you just don’t really think it’s going to happen to you until it does," co-owner Tony Martinez told 8 News Now. Despite the incident, and the frustration that comes with it, Martinez insists that this will not impede their progress. The damages incurred were estimated at around eight hundred dollars.
The restaurant owners have taken to social media to express their determination to overcome this setback, underscoring their mission to maintain a safe, welcoming space for families and the local community. Martinez, who emphasized his resolve to persevere, noted that this incident does not define them and remains committed to his patron, according to a statement obtained by 8 News Now.
The break-in at Servehzah has elicited a response from Martinez that focuses on accountability rather than retaliation. "I try to live life as being a good person. If that’s how you want to live your life, you’ll get what comes to you through karma or religion or whatever you want to call it," Martinez said in an interview with 8 News Now. The community has shown support for the business in the aftermath, something for which Martinez expressed gratitude. As for the suspects, the North Las Vegas Police Department encourages anyone with information to get in touch and assist in their identification, as noted in local coverage by News 3 LV.
