A late-morning fire at a three-story apartment building on San Antonio’s Northwest Side sent residents scrambling out of their homes Saturday as firefighters moved in fast to contain the flames. Crews were called to the scene at about 11:15 a.m., with smoke visible near the busy Loop 410 and I-10 interchange. The San Antonio Fire Department reported no injuries as teams worked to bring the blaze under control.
According to FOX San Antonio, firefighters arrived to find fire and smoke coming from the chimney and roof area of the building, prompting evacuations while crews focused on knocking down the flames. The story by Jessica Warner noted that, at last report, firefighters were still actively working to extinguish the blaze. Officials had not yet released information on the extent of the property damage or how many units were affected.
Apartment Fires Keep San Antonio Crews Busy
The incident adds to a growing list of notable apartment fires in San Antonio in recent months, highlighting the ongoing risks at multi-story complexes. Earlier in the week, the San Antonio Express-News reported a heavy fire that damaged vacant units at the Soap Factory Apartments downtown, and KSAT covered a June blaze where the Red Cross stepped in to assist displaced families. Those fires, like Saturday’s blaze, have required coordinated efforts from the San Antonio Fire Department and relief organizations.
No Injuries Reported As Cause Remains Under Investigation
City officials said there were no injuries in Saturday’s fire and that investigators had not yet determined a cause, according to FOX San Antonio. Fire crews stayed on scene to chase down hotspots and secure the roof and chimney area. At the time of the report, authorities had not provided damage estimates or announced any details on shelter options for residents who may have been displaced.
