Ohio State University students are not just hitting the books—they're also jetting off to international locales to sharpen their academic and business savvy. At the recent Global Experience Luncheon, held at OSU's Fisher College of Business, a mix of students, alumni, and donors gathered to trade stories and insights from their worldly educational pursuits. According to the Ohio State University news release, this event, situated at the Blackwell Inn, was a first-time collaboration between the Office of Global Business and the Office of Advancement designed to showcase the impact of study abroad endowments.

The luncheon featured firsthand narratives from students like Xin Lin, a finance major at OSU. Lin recounted her time spent studying in Germany and Thailand, experiences that enabled her to seriously immerse herself in new cultures. She emphasized how these stretches abroad have honed her decision-making abilities and given her invaluable insight into international business—a perspective she's keen to apply to her blossoming career. "Leveraging these experiences has strengthened my understanding of international business and macroeconomics," Lin told OSU News. "Most importantly, it is the growth mindset and the endless learning that these experiences have taught me, and I'm really excited to be carrying these values into my future career and my academic journey."

The event also highlighted the stories of students like Jacob Brodson, a marketing major, who described his study abroad experience in Taiwan as "transformational, life-changing." Aside from being intriguing in itself, his account underscores the breadth of OSU's international reach. Brodson found not just a greater understanding of global business practices during his travels, but an unexpected slice of home—a Buckeye community thriving far from Ohio's borders. "We are halfway across the world and yet the most beautiful thing is that there are still reminders of home," Brodson shared with OSU News.
