Orange City residents might want to pencil in an alternative route if they're traveling near N. Leavitt Avenue next week. According to a recent social media post from Orange City, FL – Government, a section of N. Leavitt Avenue from E. University Avenue to E. Graves Avenue will be off-limits to traffic starting this Saturday. The closure forms part of the ongoing Septic-to-Sewer project and is earmarked to take around three days, with the goal of finishing road milling and paving.
For those living in the affected area, the comfort comes with the assurance that resident access will not be completely severed; albeit limited, particularly during the execution of the paving operations and yes, planning may prove challenging, as mobility will be restricted during the construction hours stretching from the early bird phase of 7 a.m. up to the winding down hour of 5 p.m., thus, patience and adherence to the detour signs will undoubtedly lessen the inevitable burden of the day-to-day hustle.
The effort is a part of a broader initiative to update the local infrastructure, which aims to protect the environment through the replacement of septic systems with more efficient sewer systems. The inconvenience, though temporary, is considered a necessary step towards improved sanitation and public health benefits for the community.
Local authorities are requesting the community's cooperation during this period, and they stress the importance of observing the detour signage that will be in place to facilitate the movement around the blocked segment of N. Leavitt Avenue, which, while closed may cause some confusion and a bit of frustration, the officials are actively working to minimize disruption and maintain access to homes although delays should be anticipated as the work progresses.
