The Powerball jackpot saga continues, with the latest drawing held yesterday, leaving major prizes unclaimed. As reported by the Ohio Lottery, via WKYC, despite no ticket matching all six numbers, Ohio was still bustling with thousands of smaller winners. As the $20 million jackpot rolls over, a total of 14,338 Ohioans are pocketing wins ranging from $4 to $300.
The Powerball numbers 2, 16, 35, 61, 63, and Powerball 5 with a 3x Power Play option failed to generate a jackpot winner, but that doesn't mean lottery players aren't keenly waiting to quickly try their luck again. Already, the jackpot has climbed to $30 million for the next drawing set for tomorrow at 10:59 p.m., as confirmed by a Cleveland.com article.
In contrast, earlier that week, a Powerball player in North Carolina hit a colossal $209.3 million jackpot. The lucky numbers for last Wednesday's drawing were 11, 26, 27, 53, 55, and Powerball 12. The winner, who purchased their ticket at West 10th Mart in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., has the choice of a $95.3 million lump sum or an annuity of $209 million.
Mark Michalko, chief executive officer of the N.C. Education Lottery was quoted in the Cleveland.com report, expressing exhilaration for the winner, "First we want to say a big congratulations to the lucky winner on this life-changing moment." He also offered advice, "Our advice to the winner is to sign the ticket to establish your ownership of it and secure it in a safe place. We can't wait to meet the big winner so we can celebrate this momentous occasion with them."
Details on how to play, claim prizes, and the odds of winning can be found on official lottery sites, as indicated in coverage by APP. Powerball, however, remains the elusive dream, with 1 in 292.2 million odds for the jackpot prize.
