A Racine County woman has been charged following an attack on a pregnant woman earlier this month. Marielle Barrios, 28, faces charges of armed robbery with use of force, substantial battery, and attempted aggravated battery to an unborn child, according to WISN. The assault occurred as the victim, Gheonna Lacy, was leaving work.

Surveillance footage shows two individuals chasing Lacy. During the attack, Lacy sustained cuts to her face and bruising to her stomach. Prosecutors allege Barrios struck Lacy with a bat and made statements including, "Beat the baby out" and "Kill the baby," according to a criminal complaint obtained by WISN. The second attacker, believed to be male, has not been identified, and Racine police are still searching for him.

Barrios reportedly knew Lacy, who was pregnant with Barrios’ boyfriend’s child. Lacy stated that Barrios’ identity became apparent when her mask slipped. Barrios also allegedly took two cellphones from Lacy.

Barrios was arrested in Arkansas on Friday last week. A woman, Melvina Lewis, was also detained for allegedly harboring or aiding a felon. Prior to her arrest, Barrios submitted a written statement at a police station denying involvement, according to Law and Crime.

Lacy was hospitalized following the attack, and she and her unborn child are being monitored by medical professionals. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Lacy, who is now unable to work due to her injuries. A second woman in Arkansas, identified by Racine police as Melvina Lewis, was taken into custody for allegedly harboring or assisting a felon, as per CBS58.
