In observance of Black History Month, Raleigh has scheduled multiple programs intended for both residents and visitors. A Black History Month celebration is scheduled at John Chavis Memorial Park on February 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free, family-friendly event will feature food trucks, Black-owned business vendors, bounce houses, and arts and crafts activities.

The City of Raleigh reports that the “Living Legends: C.A.R.V.E. into Black Raleigh” event will take place the following day at the John P. “Top” Green Community Center. The event recognizes community leaders who have contributed to the city’s African American community. The City of Raleigh Museum will host the “Black Superhero Gallery” on February 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will feature historic comic books and discussions on African American superheroes in comics and film, as per the official announcement.

The Black History Trolley Tour will take place on February 21 and 22. For $15, participants can tour Oberlin Village, learn about its history, and visit notable sites including the Historic Turner House and Oberlin Cemetery.
