The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is launching its Counselor In Training (CIT) program, ideal for 14 to 16-year-olds seeking to develop top-notch leadership skills and snag valuable hands-on experience.
According to the City of Raleigh, the program is designed to prepare teens for junior counselor roles. Participants will complete training that includes education, team-building exercises, role-play, and hands-on experience by volunteering at one of the city’s summer camps.
The program runs June 15–18, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Thomas Crowder Woodland Center. There is a $250 fee to participate. Eligible teens can submit an application to join.
Those who are accepted are also expected to volunteer for one week (40 hours) at summer camps, gaining experience working with children and learning skills for future youth counselor roles.
