A 30-year-old Roseville man, Daniel Waldrep, is facing multiple charges after an armed standoff with police that left an officer wounded. Authorities say Waldrep is charged with at least 14 felony counts, including assault with intent to murder, and is being held on a $2 million cash or surety bond, as reported by CBS News Detroit.
Roseville police were called to a home on Kathy Street last Friday for a reported domestic dispute involving an armed suspect, identified as Waldrep. Officers were met with gunfire when they arrived, and one officer suffered a head injury but is expected to recover. Waldrep was also injured during the exchange. Additional police agencies and tactical units responded, and Waldrep was later taken into custody after a standoff, according to Detroit News.
Waldrep was arraigned in Macomb County on multiple charges, including felony firearm violations, attempting to disarm a peace officer, and a misdemeanor domestic violence charge, along with sentence enhancements as a third-offense habitual offender. Prosecutor Peter Lucido said, “The alleged actions in this case demonstrate a complete disregard for human life and public safety, and it is sheer luck that more people were not seriously injured or killed,” and stated his office plans to prosecute the case to the fullest extent of the law, as mentioned by Audacy. A probable cause conference is scheduled for February 11, with a preliminary exam set for February 18. Waldrep was arraigned in the 39th District Court, where bond conditions include house arrest, no contact with victims or witnesses, and no drug or alcohol use while under electronic monitoring. If convicted on four counts of assault with intent to murder, he could face a life sentence.
