The Roseville Police Department has received a $165,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to reduce serious injuries and deaths on the roads through September 2026. “We are grateful to receive this grant, which will strengthen our traffic enforcement efforts and improve road safety,” said Sgt. Michael Ryland, as reported by the Roseville Police Department.
The funding will support DUI checkpoints, patrols for impaired drivers, and high-visibility operations targeting distracted driving, while also protecting pedestrians and bicyclists. The department will also conduct community presentations and collaborate with neighboring agencies to create a safer environment on the streets, as stated by the Roseville Police Department.
According to the Roseville Police Department on their Facebook page, the California Office of Traffic Safety, through a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, will fund programs addressing DUI checkpoints, distracted driving, speeding, and failure-to-yield violations. The programs will include community talks on impaired driving, texting while driving, and safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Director Stephanie Dougherty of the OTS said, “Through focused traffic enforcement and education, we’re working toward a future where everyone will be safe on California roads.”
