San Antonio locals with a vested interest in the skies might just find their next civic engagement opportunity, as the city's Airport Advisory Commission (AAC) is currently on the hunt for new members. The commission, which keeps a keen eye on the commercial airport activities within the area, has opened its doors for applications until the fast-approaching deadline of March 2.
According to the City of San Antonio's website, there are multiple seats available for those hailing from diverse sectors, including the general community, business spheres, travel, tourism, aviation, and ground transportation sectors, as well as representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The AAC plays a pivotal role, offering counsel to the Director of Airports on wide-ranging policy matters and air transportation projects that affect both the San Antonio International Airport and the Stinson Municipal Airport. Input from the commission can shape the trajectory of local air travel and impact the community at large.
Those appointed to the AAC can anticipate regular gatherings to discuss these high-flying topics, with meetings scheduled every third Tuesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. The confabs are held at the Airport Center located at 10100 Reunion Place, serving as a hub for discourse and decision-making among the various social strata committed to the city's aerial gateways, according to the City of San Antonio's website.
The City's call for applicants reflects an ongoing commitment to inclusive participation in the governance of San Antonio's aviation assets. Residents eager to contribute their expertise to the advancement of local airports now have a clear runway ahead of them to potentially influence the future of San Antonio's air transportation infrastructure.
