What started as a Sunday evening domestic disturbance on San Antonio’s West Side ended with both people inside a home shot and rushed to the hospital, according to police.
Officers with the San Antonio Police Department were called to the 1300 block of Robbins Point, where they found a man and a woman injured inside the residence. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. SAPD says the case remains under active investigation.
Scene and police account
A police sergeant at the scene told investigators that the woman pulled a firearm and pointed it at the man. During a struggle over the weapon, it was swatted away and went off, police said, hitting the man in the stomach and the woman in the hand. Officers reported that no one else was inside the home when they arrived, and detectives have opened an active investigation into what led up to the gunfire. Those details were reported by KENS 5.
Investigation and local context
Incidents that begin as domestic-disturbance calls can quickly turn into complicated cases for police and prosecutors, especially when both people are injured and accounts of what happened do not neatly line up. In Bexar County, local reporting has highlighted a growing backlog of unfiled domestic-violence cases and strained resources in misdemeanor courts and the district attorney’s office, a combination that can drag out charging decisions and slow how quickly cases move through the system. That reporting was detailed by KSAT.
Charges and next steps
As of the initial police briefing, SAPD had not said what charges, if any, either person might face, and the department has not released their names. Detectives are gathering statements and physical evidence and will present their findings to prosecutors, who will decide whether to file criminal charges. The investigation remains active; initial reporting on the incident appeared in KENS 5.
