Santa Rosa has earned the distinction of being named the safest city in California for 2025, according to a recent WalletHub study. After evaluating 182 cities across the United States, including the most populous metros and at least two of the most populous cities in each state, Santa Rosa emerged as the top city in California and ranked 14th nationwide for overall safety. The study, published at the end of last year, assessed various factors, including home and community safety, natural disaster risk, and financial stability, as reported by California City News.
In addition to recording the nation's fewest traffic fatalities per capita, Santa Rosa's commendation comes on the heels of considering 41 metrics, running the gamut from frequency of mass shootings to economic conditions, bearing witness that traditional notions of safety have expanded far beyond simple crime statistics.
Within California, Irvine closely followed Santa Rosa with a national ranking of 17, while Chula Vista and Fremont clinched the third and fourth spots in the state, with national rankings of 23 and 27, respectively. This context, taken from Santa Rosa's official site, emphasizes the cities' commitment to providing secure environments for their residents.
